El origen de la vida

Synopsis of El origen de la vida

«El origen de la vida» is the scientific essay by John Desmond Bernal, published by Destino in hardback (392 pages, in Spanish).

Bernal describes how the conditions of the primitive Earth favoured the formation of organic compounds and their organisation into cellular structures. He pays special attention to Oparin's theory and coacervates, groupings akin to protoplasm where the first vital phenomena may have occurred.

Part of the Historia natural Destino collection, volume 20. Translated from English by Jaime Terrades and José Serrano, with appendices by Henri and Genevieve Termier. Includes illustrations and bibliography.

Aimed at readers curious about biology and the history of science, particularly classical theories on the origin of life on Earth.
