«Du rond-point au giratoire» is Eric Alonzo's urbanism essay, published by Parenthèses Editions in paperback (162 pages, in French).
Eric Alonzo reconstructs the genealogy of the French rond-point, an ambiguous figure between movement and form, from classical gardens to Eugène Hénard's carrefour à giration (1906). He analyses its effectiveness for traffic and safety, but criticises its systematic use without urbanistic reflection, and presents projects that reinvent it.
Published in 2005, includes bibliography and references. The book belongs to the field of architecture and urbanism.
Of interest to architects, urban planners, landscape designers and artists working on public space.
