«Divina» is the novel by Françoise Mallet-Joris, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (in Spanish).
Jeanne is a high school teacher living contentedly in a Paris flat until a lift breakdown leaves her isolated. The pity of colleagues, friends and neighbours makes her feel vulnerable and pushes her to start a strict diet. As she loses weight, her life and relationships fall apart; the physical change becomes an inner quest.
