«Die Pharaonen. Große Herrscher des alten Ägypten» is the historical essay by Christian Jacq, published by Rowohlt Tb. in paperback (352 pages, in German).
Christian Jacq portrays the great pharaohs and female pharaohs of ancient Egypt and describes, on a documentary basis, the characteristics of each period of rule and its culture. The book explores the points where verified facts intertwine with myths and legends, and explains the origin of the fascination this civilisation arouses.
The German edition from Rowohlt Tb., translated by Riek Walther, comes from L'Égypte des Grands Pharaons (1981), an original work in French by Christian Jacq.
For readers interested in ancient Egypt, Egyptology and biographies of pharaohs as rulers.
Christian Jacq is a French author and Egyptologist. He has written several novels about ancient Egypt, notably a five book series about pharaoh Ramses II, a character whom Jacq admires greatly.
