«Control of Spacecraft and Aircraft» is Arthur E. Bryson's technical manual on automatic control of spacecraft and aircraft, published by Princeton University Press in hardback (408 pages, in English).
The work explains the design of feedback control systems for aerospace vehicles, with the LQR method as a basis for coordinating multiple actuators and achieving precise maneuvers. The first part addresses attitude control in rigid and flexible spacecraft using reaction wheels, fixed thrusters, and articulated engines, and includes guidance for nearly circular orbits. The second part studies attitude and trajectory control in aircraft, with autopilots for cruise, climb-descent, coordinated turns, and automatic landing, as well as helicopters in hover and aeroelastic stabilization. The emphasis is on the mathematical modeling necessary for good control.
Reference technical work published in 1994 by Princeton University Press. Includes appendices on linear systems analysis, analog and digital control synthesis, simulation, and modeling of flexible vehicles.
Aimed at engineers, graduate students, and researchers in aerospace and automatic control engineering.
