«Barry John: The King» is the sports autobiography of Barry John with Paul Abbandonato, published by Mainstream in paperback (208 pages, in English).
In this autobiography, Barry John reviews his rugby career and the fame that surrounded him: compared to George Best for his charisma and considered one of the best of his generation, he was an idol pursued by fans. The book alternates the account of the sport with the pressure of living in the spotlight.
The edition appeared in April 2002 within the Mainstream Sport collection of Mainstream Publishing, with an introduction by George Best.
Recommended for rugby fans and sports biography readers who want to approach one of the most admired figures of this sport.

Barry John was a Welsh rugby union fly-half who played in the 1960s and early 1970s during the amateur era of the sport. John began his rugby career as a schoolboy playing for his local team Cefneithin RFC before switching to the first-class west Wales team Llanelli RFC in 1964. Whilst at Llanelli, John was selected for the Wales national team—as a replacement for David Watkins—to face a touring Australian team.
