«A Modern World» is the American design catalogue by John Stuart Gordon, published by Yale University Press in hardback (438 pages, in English).
The volume analyses American design between 1920 and 1950 through the collection of the Yale University Art Gallery: some 300 pieces of silver, glass, industrial design, furniture, jewellery and textiles. It surveys trends from the jazz age to the space age, from the handcrafted luxury object to the mass-produced one.
The book, published in December 2011, belongs to the Yale University Art Gallery Series and was produced in association with the Yale University Art Gallery.
It is aimed at enthusiasts of modern design, scholars of the decorative arts and readers of museum catalogues.
