«La Traviata» is the opera by Giuseppe Verdi with Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti and Manuguerra, conducted by Richard Bonynge, on CD.
Opera in three acts with libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It is a romantic drama that pits the love of a woman marked by her past against the conventions of bourgeois society; that tension between feeling and appearance runs through the entire work.
Recording sung in Italian with the National Philharmonic Orchestra, released by Polygram Records.
For opera enthusiasts and Italian voices, with particular interest in the Sutherland and Pavarotti versions.
