«La Bruja» is the zarzuela by Ruperto Chapí and Rafael Ramos Carrión, released in 1991 by Sony Music, on double CD.
An operatic zarzuela: the prelude and the orchestration of folk passages, such as the pasacalle and the jota, are the most representative numbers. The work combines drama and popular elements, and this recording features soloists, chorus and orchestra.
Recording in Spanish and stereo, with Teresa Berganza, Dolores Cava, Alfredo Kraus and Carlos Munguía; Chamber Choir of the Orfeón Donostiarra and Symphony Orchestra, with Juan Gorostidi and Benito Lauret as conductors.
Of interest to fans of zarzuela and the classic Spanish vocal repertoire, as well as followers of Alfredo Kraus.
