«Celtic Crossroads» is the album by John Whelan & Friends, released in 1997 on Narada on CD.
Accordionist John Whelan crosses Irish Celtic music with American folk, accompanied by a group of guest musicians. He alternates dances and ballads on tracks such as «Riverboat Set», «There Were Roses» and «Passage of Time», with arrangements ranging from traditional to neoclassical.
The CD includes 13 tracks with 56 minutes of duration; guests include Kathy Mattea, Tim O'Brien and Jerry Douglas.
Will appeal to Celtic folk listeners, especially those who appreciate the accordion as a solo instrument and repertoires of dances and ballads.
