«Africa» is the jazz album by Paul Horn released by Kuckuck Records on CD.
Paul Horn combines his flute and saxophone with percussion, voices and strings from West Africa in an album between free jazz and roots music. The compositions, original works by Sékou Camara Cobra, are rooted in the Malinke griot tradition and alternate Guinean rhythms such as «Kassa» with more intimate pieces like «Dounya».
Recorded from 6 to 8 September 1993 at Reference Studios in Saint-Calixte (Quebec). CD with catalogue number 11104-2.
Will appeal to fans of Paul Horn and those who enjoy the fusion of jazz and world music, particularly West African traditions.
