«Todas las mañanas del mundo» is the film by Alain Corneau (1991), starring Gérard Depardieu, Jean-Pierre Marielle and Anne Brochet, on DVD.
It tells the relationship between two real musicians of 17th-century France: Sainte Colombe, a viola da gamba virtuoso living in retirement after the death of his wife, and Marin Marais, an ambitious young man seeking to be admitted as his pupil. Their opposing ideas about music and the court turn the apprenticeship into a conflict between vocation and ambition.
