«Tiovivo c.1950» is a film by José Luis Garci (2004), starring María Adánez, Francisco Algora and Ángel de Andrés-López, on DVD.
A portrait of 1950s Madrid through vignettes and minute-long scenes, like the portraits made by luckless street painters. With no linear plot, it composes a carousel of characters and micro-stories: a grey, poor, tender and cruel capital, but also roguish, festive and surreal, with survivors we are heirs to.
2006 Spanish-language edition from El País's 'Cine en español' collection, under licence from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Nominated for six Goya Awards; rated for all audiences.
For fans of Spanish cinema and José Luis Garci's nostalgic view of 1950s Madrid, praised by ABC and El País.
