«The Loved Ones» is the Australian horror film by Sean Byrne (2009), starring Xavier Samuel, Robin McLeavy and John Brumpton, on DVD.
Brent, a student carrying guilt over his father's death in a car accident, turns down Lola's invitation to the school prom. Lola is the quietest girl in school. That refusal triggers a nightmare: Lola and her father kidnap him and make him the guest of honour at a macabre private party in their home, where torture and horror mix with black humour and pop aesthetics.
British DVD edition, region 2 and PAL, with colour picture 2.40:1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 sound. Rated 18 for bloody violence.
For fans of intense horror and cult Australian films with a touch of black comedy.
