«Steptoe & Son - Series 1» is the comedy series directed by Duncan Wood (1962), starring Harry H. Corbett and Wilfrid Brambell, on DVD.
Created by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, it follows Harold and Albert Steptoe, father and son who run a scrap business in London. Harold tries to climb socially, but his father, complacent and mocking, prevents him. The six episodes, including the Comedy Playhouse pilot, combine comedy and a portrait of the British working class.
DVD in PAL (region 2), with the six black-and-white episodes, mono sound and 180 minutes of runtime. Audio and subtitles in English, the latter also for the hearing impaired. Rated PG.
For fans of classic British comedy and BBC series from the sixties.
