«Open Water» is the horror and suspense film based on true events, released on DVD in 2003 by Entertainment One.
A couple on holiday in the Caribbean ends up adrift in the open sea when the diving boat that had taken them to the reef sails away without noticing them. Surrounded by sharks and unsure whether they will be rescued, the film follows their agonising wait with a sober, realistic approach close to documentary, turning the vastness of the ocean into the main source of tension.
The DVD edition offers the film in widescreen format, with audio available in English and Spanish.
For viewers who value psychological horror and survival stories with a realistic, minimalist treatment.
