«O Caso Farewell» is the film by Christian Caron (2009), starring Guillaume Canet, Emir Kusturica and Fred Ward, on DVD.
A KGB colonel, disillusioned with the Soviet regime, hands classified documents to a French engineer. Ronald Reagan called that leak key to the end of the Cold War, and the film turns it into a sober political thriller, attentive to human relationships amid international tension.
It screened at the Toronto and Telluride festivals and won the Audience Award at the Mostra de Valencia. Dialogue in French, Russian and English.
Recommended for fans of political thrillers and spy stories with a historical backdrop.
