In 1879, in Montana, big cattle ranchers control the territory. Morgan Lane, a former Australian sailor turned sheepherder, arrives with his flocks to challenge their power. To cross the ranchers' lands, he joins another cattleman and clashes with Maria Singleton, a rancher who opposes sheep ruining the pastures.
