«Marco Polo» is the Blu-ray recording of Tan Dun's opera, conducted by Misjel Vermerien and starring Charles Workman, Sarah Castle and Stephen Richardson (2009).
The opera presents Marco Polo's journey to the Far East as a physical and spiritual voyage, where Western avant-garde and Eastern traditions intersect. With a libretto by Paul Griffiths, Pierre Audi's production brings together the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Cappella Amsterdam and a cast featuring Charles Workman, Sarah Castle and Stephen Richardson.
The Blu-ray reproduces the 2008 recording by De Nederlandse Opera and the NPS, is multi-region, is sung mainly in English and includes subtitles in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Dutch.
