Set in London in 1937, Laura Henderson, an eccentric widow, buys the Windmill Theatre and, with the help of impresario Vivian Van Damm, turns it into a variety theatre that defies the conventions of the era. The venue thrives in the years before the Second World War, with a mix of wit, music and rebellion.
The film was nominated for two Academy Awards; this DVD edition contains one disc and is distributed by BIM Distribuzione.
