«La noche de Varennes» is the film by Ettore Scola, starring Jean-Louis Barrault, Marcello Mastroianni and Hanna Schygulla, on DVD.
During the French Revolution, a group of travellers, including Casanova and the novelist Restif de la Bretonne, meet on a route marked by the flight of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Their conversations and encounters paint a choral portrait of the end of an era, mixing historical and fictional characters in the same journey.

Suitable for fans of European historical cinema and period dramas who enjoy choral portraits.
