«Joker» is the 2019 film by Todd Phillips, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro, on DVD.
Set in a decaying Gotham City, it follows Arthur Fleck, a marginalized street clown trying to make it in comedy while society humiliates and ignores him. His descent into madness and violence turns him into the Joker. A psychological drama about social alienation, far from superhero cinema.
Golden Lion for Best Film at the 2019 Venice Film Festival. DVD with audio and subtitles in Italian and English.
For viewers who prefer psychological drama and social critique to superhero action.
