«Jeux interdits» is the French drama film by René Clément (1952), starring Brigitte Fossey and Georges Poujouly, on DVD.
During the German occupation of France, two children who have experienced the brutality of war strike up a friendship and build a cemetery for dead animals. That serious and moving game helps them process fear and loss, in contrast with the harshness of the adult world.
Black-and-white film, running 81 minutes. StudioCanal Classique edition, with French Dolby Digital 1.0 audio and Spanish and English subtitles.
A classic of French cinema for those who appreciate historical dramas centred on childhood and war.
