«En Construcción» is the documentary by José Luis Guerín (2001) about the transformation of Barcelona's Barrio Chino, on DVD.
Over a year and a half, the camera records the construction of a building in Barcelona's Barrio Chino and the lives of those who inhabit it. Amid demolitions and ruins, the film reflects the disappearance of a world: the neighbours disperse while modern housing rises that those who built it will not be able to live in.
Edition from El País in the Un país de cine 2 collection: one disc, PAL, region 2, audio in Spanish without subtitles. It won the Special Jury Prize in San Sebastián and the Goya for Best Documentary.
Suitable for all audiences, it will appeal to fans of documentary film and urban portraits.
