Synopsis of El sabor del sake

Shuhei Hirayama, along with his friends Kawai and Horie, reflects on the marriage of his daughter Michiko. After discussing it with his family, they decide that Miura, a young man to whom she is attracted, would be the best candidate. However, they discover that he is already engaged. Michiko, disillusioned, entrusts her destiny to her father and brother. This moving Japanese film, directed by Yasujiro Ozu, explores the complexities of family relationships and important life decisions.
