«Amerrika» is the film directed by Cherien Dabis (2009), starring Nisreen Faour, Melkar Muallem and Hiam Abbass, on DVD.
Muna, a Palestinian mother, emigrates with her son Fadi from the West Bank to a small town in Illinois. They live with her sister's family and try to fit into a new culture without giving up their own, in an environment that, after the invasion of Iraq, views the Middle East with suspicion. Muna works at a burger joint and Fadi faces high school.
The film lasts 96 minutes and is a production of the USA, Canada and Kuwait. Includes audio in English and Spanish.
Suitable for all audiences, it is aimed at those seeking immigration dramas with festival recognition.
